On location: Storm King Art Center | Hudson Valley

Everyone calls this outdoor sculpture museum just "Storm King". Easily accessible by car or bus from Manhattan, the 500 acres open-air museum was founded in 1960 and includes over 100 pieces of art.

The permanent collection includes renown artists such as  Alexander Calder, Henry Moore, Isamu Noguchi, and Richard Serra. Some pieces are monumental, and others such as Maya Lin's Storm King Wavefield (2009) are more subtle in the way they reveal themselves to the visitor. Most installations are specific to the site, and new ones are added regularly.

Plan a full day to really enjoy the collection, walking the landscape of fields, hills and woodlands.
